The Arizona Cardinals will have a new kicker this weekend in Detroit.
His name is Mike Nugent. He recently kicked for the New York Jets and most recently for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, missing four of six kicks in his short stint with them earlier this season.
Kicker Neil Rackers has been bothered by a pulled groin and the team wants him healthy for the playoffs. Rackers had an extra-point blocked on Monday in San Francisco. He’s been bothered by this injury for a few weeks now.
Is it the right move? Well, it is from Rackers perspective I think. As for Nugent? Well, I guess I can just hope there was no one better out there. It is crucial to have a strong kicking game the next couple of weeks as the Cardinals continue to battle to win the division.
