It May Turn Out that the Butler Did It After All
By Scott Allen
Welcome back to "As the Defensive Coordinator Position Turns". As tired as I am talking about it, the topic still deserves all the attention it can get especially because I would like the Arizona Cardinals to get this one right.
For about a week or so, the eventual winner of this saga seemed to be the Miami Dolphins Todd Bowles. Then all of a sudden, the Pittsburgh Steelers Kevin Butler once again surfaced as a possible candidate and he may not necessarily be a member of the Steelers coaching staff next season. Interesting.
I am certain Cards coach Ken Whisenhunt is completely set on grabbing whoever he can from the Steelers as he has been trying for four season now to make the Cards the Steelers of the NFC to no avail, since the Cards have not won a Super Bowl and the Steelers are on the verge of winning their second championship since Whisenhunt left in 2007.
I would just like to see the saga end. To me, since Whisenhunt has failed to move on Bowles yet, that tells me he is waiting for word from Butler, whom he can not interview until after the completion of the Super Bowl. If I were Bowles, I would just tell Whisenhunt thanks but no thanks at this point. Clearly, Bowles is not his first choice or he would have been hired already.
By the way Cards, hire a defensive coordinator already!
