Patrick Peterson Signs With Arizona Cardinals
By Scott Allen
The one guy the Arizona Cardinals had to get into camp as soon as possible has made it. First round draft pick, cornerback Patrick Peterson, signed a five-year deal with the Cards this afternoon. So far he has only missed conditioning and one practice. If Peterson is to be the force the Cards are going to count on him being, then it was a must that his deal get done sooner rather than later.
Peterson is expected to man one corner while the other corner is manned by Greg Toler and recently signed free agent Richard Marshall. Even if the plan doesn’t work out the way the Cards want it to, it won’t be for a lack of trying. These aren’t your father’s Cardinals. These Cards are trying to meet every one of their needs as quickly as possible.
Peterson has the tools to be not only one of the best corners in the NFL but also one of the best defensive players period for many years to come. Sure, there will be a little pressure I’m sure, but with the skills he possesses he should do just fine if those skills are utilized properly. He will have a great secondary coach in Ray Horton.
