Holy Todd Heap! Tight End Joins Arizona Cardinals
By Scott Allen
The Arizona Cardinals might have just made the biggest splash into the free agent market since they moved to Arizona 23 years ago. Today, they got the complete tight end they’ve been searching for since the days Jay Novacek bolted for the Dallas Cowboys. Free Agent Todd Heap, formerly of the Baltimore Ravens, signed a two-year deal with the Cardinals Sunday morning.
Heap, local Mesa, AZ product who went to Arizona State, has 467 receptions and 41 TD’s lifetime over the span of 10 seasons. He only played six games in 2004 and 2007. He has missed only three games over the past three seasons.
The Cardinals finally land a Pro-Bowl tight end they’ve desperately needed for such a long time. Now, with Heap in the mix, he can also mentor third round draft pick Rob Housler out of Florida Atlantic to be the TE of the future for the Cards.
