No Big Moves Today on Cards Receiver Front
By Scott Allen
So, let’s recap today’s Arizona Cardinals wide receiver news. Nothing happened. No Larry Fitzgerald deal, no Braylon Edwards signing. Although Cards kicker Jay Feely and safety Kerry Rhodes both have expressed their desire for their former New York Jets teammate to join them in Arizona. If it is a short term deal, I’m all for it.
The Fitzgerald deal will get done before the season starts, so I’m not worried about that one. I would like to see the Cardinals settle the number two receiver deal though before the weekend. I think it is important, no matter who the guy ends up being, for a number two receiver to get as many preseason reps as possible heading into the regular season.
Edwards is getting great word of mouth by his former teammates in Arizona, so why not take a chance? How far can Cards players themselves steer you wrong? Word is it is years and not money still that drives a deal apart.
