Real Quarterback Fight Lining Up Behind Kolb
By Scott Allen
We know the Arizona Cardinals are going with Kevin Kolb as their starter. The bigger question is who will back him up this season? After one preseason game, the answer seems to be John Skelton. As you know, most NFL starting quarterbacks get spelled a time or two during the regular season. If Skelton were the guy to come in, at least he would have experience under his belt.
All three quarterbacks behind Kolb, Skelton, Richard Bartel, and Max Hall played decent on Thursday night in Oakland. I think it is safe to say the world would have to fall apart for Max Hall to be a starter again, or even the second choice. However, Skelton appears to be ready to fill in when needed. Bartel not half bad either.
I would hope Kolb can make it through the season without backup, but the reality is, most likely a backup or two will get into a game at some point this season. You can thank last season for Skelton being ready. So there may be a blessing from last season overall. The Cardinals should be thankful now that Skelton got the experience of starting last season. It has him ready to be an NFL backup this season.
