Cardinals Heap, Porter Among Inactives

The Arizona Cardinals inactive list include former Baltimore Ravens tight end Todd Heap today.  Unfortunately we will not get to see Heap face his former team.  It may have been the only opportunity in his career to face his former mates.  He is still nursing a hamstring injury.

As for the other inactives, they include FS Kerry Rhodes, LB Joey Porter, WR Stephen Williams, OT D’Anthony Batiste, QB Richard Bartel, and DE Ronald Talley.

It is not a surprise that Heap is inactive.  This will be his third straight missed game.  It seems as if this fantastic signing the Cards made has gone south and looks like a bust at the moment.  I won’t go as far as to say it is a complete bust, however at this rate, Heap will be a non-factor this season and because of his age, you have to wonder how much longer Heap can go.  The older you get, the longer it can take to heal injuries.  Plus hamstrings are tough tough calls.  You never know for sure how one will react until you are attempting to play at full speed.

At least the Cards aren’t trying to rush Heap back and I respect that.  It also helps that the Cards have Rob Housler and Jeff King on the roster to fill the tight end spot in the meantime.  They just aren’t the weapons that Heap is though, although Housler could end up being as good and maybe even better before it is all said and done.
