CBS’s Charlie Casserly Suggests Peyton Manning Could Land in Arizona

In what I am sure made every Arizona Cardinals fan do a double take when they heard it, NFL on CBS’s Charlie Casserly said on The NFL Today just a little while ago that with Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning’s deadline coming up for his big pay day, the Colts could possibly look to move him, to Arizona, given the Colts most likely are going to draft Stanford’s Andrew Luck.  Say what?

This is obviously the first time this suggestion has come up.  Casserly said that with Cards coach Ken Whisenhunt being down this road before with Kurt Warner, it is a possibility the Cardinals would look to get out of Kevin Kolb’s contract and go after Manning.

Personally, I have no issues with it as long as Manning is healthy.  Manning can easily play another 2-3 years if he is 100 percent healthy.  At what cost though?  If they somehow miraculously acquired Manning, then they’ve given up on Kolb to do it.  Now, I would take Manning over Kolb in a heartbeat.  No question.  The question is about the future.  After 2-3 years down the road, then where does that leave the Cardinals.  It could be with John Skelton, but that’s no given either.

I guess we’d go back to the same situation we had with Warner three years ago.  Just go year-by-year and hope for the best.  Now, this is clearly all speculation on Casserly’s part (I think), however I don’t think the suggestion would have been made if the scenario could not be played out.  I’m not holding my breath, but could you imagine?  Yeah I can too.
