When Christina Aguilera botched the national anthem before the Super Bowl in Dallas last season, it was all anyone could talk about afterwards, other than the Green Bay Packers win of course. So, when Kelly Clarkson stepped to the mike today, it would have been nearly impossible to be any worse. Just getting the words right is all she needed.
Before I hear any negative comments, let’s get one thing straight. It isn’t meant to be a rock concert performance. Just get the words right, sound good and don’t get creative. Clarkson hit the target on all points.
I’m already seeing comparisons to Whitney Houston in 1991. Yes, I get it, that one was awesome and I think nothing will compare. However this one was better than last season, no doubt. Stop, stop the whining and take it for what it was, a nice performance. Play ball!
