Arizona Cardinals RB Ryan Williams Sitting Out Hall of Fame Game

Arizona Cardinals running back Ryan Williams has excited so far in the first week and a half of training camp.  He’s looked good coming off his knee injury suffered last preseason.  He was impressive in the Red-White scrimmage last Saturday.  He will not play on Sunday in Canton Ohio though in order to avoid injury in a meaningless game.  Beanie Wells will also miss the game.

Williams could have played this week as he is about 85-90 percent right now.  The Cards and Williams just felt it was in the better interest of the player and team that he sit this one out.  I’m agreement with that.

Although you could say all preseason games are meaningless, I would expect Williams to see some action within the next couple of weeks.  You can’t send him to the regular season and proclaim him ready unless he gets some live game action.  Soon enough.

As for Wells, we’ll see.  There is also no rush to get him in until he is proclaimed ready to go.  It sounds like though he will be seeing action sooner rather than later.  I hope that’s true.  The Cards need to get their top two backs on the same page and in synch for the regular season.  The Cards would not be served well by seeing both these backs sit out the entire preseason.
