Hall of Fame Gameday: Arizona Cardinals vs. New Orleans Saints
By Scott Allen
It’s been 218 days since the Arizona Cardinals last put on the pads for real live game action. The wait is over. The Cards face the New Orleans Saints tonight in Canton, Ohio for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game. Game time is 5:00pm on NFL Network. It may be preseason, but it’s still football and football is back! Not many questions will be answered tonight if any at all, however it is still a chance to see the Cards perform in game action.
Kevin Kolb will start at quarterback for the Cardinals. Ryan Williams and Beanie Wells are both sitting this one out. John Skelton will also get playing time at quarterback. How long Kolb plays will probably depend on how his first drive goes. You might see Kolb play longer than a typical starter would in the first preseason game. With all the questions needing to be answered, it behooves the Cards to get as much a look at Kolb and Skelton as they can.
The Saints will be playing their first game without head coach Sean Payton, who is suspended for the entire season. Coincidentally Payton was at the Hall of Fame inductions last night to support Willie Roaf, former Saint. He will not be allowed to be at the game this evening per the conditions of his suspension.
Should be fun to watch, preseason or not. Game will also be shown on CBS 5 KPHO in Phoenix for those without NFL Network.
