This game is all about the opportunities you create. The Arizona created two deep offensive opportunities thanks to a muffed punt, Patrick Peterson interception returned to the two yard line, and Rashad Johnson returned a 53 yard interception for a touchdown to give the Arizona Cardinals a 21-7 lead at halftime over the Detroit Lions. The Cardinals did not turn the ball over in the second quarter.
Cards running back Beanie Wells has run hard and scored both offensive touchdowns. Quarterback Ryan Lindley threw the one first quarter pick and does not have any touchdown passes…still. I’m hoping they give Lindley the opportunity in the second half. I think they missed an opportunity on both touchdowns. Some play action would have been excellent to see.
At least the Cards haven’t squandered their two deep red zone opportunities. It was nice to see the Cards find the end zone for the first time in three weeks. We’ve been in this position before. The Cards had 14 at halftime against the St. Louis Rams three weeks ago after two Beanie Wells touchdowns. Hopefully they have a better halftime speech prepared today.
