Now That Quarterback is Settled, Draft Focus Should Be OL For Arizona Cardinals
By Scott Allen
Two guys the Cards should be looking at are tackles Eric Fisher from Central Michigan and Lane Johnson from Oklahoma. It is quite plausible that Fisher will be gone by number seven. If he isn’t, it is a no-brainer. Johnson would be a great second choice should Fisher be gone. If for some reason both are gone, then it is not beyond the realm of possibility the Cards look at moving down.
Another option could be guard Jonathan Cooper from North Carolina. However I don’t see Cooper as a top ten pick, therefore it makes more sense to trade down if Fisher and/or Johnson are gone.
If the Cards are truly out of options on the line in the first round, they could look to the defense but it almost feels like a wasted draft pick at that point if they go that way. I’d almost want to see them trade down instead of going defense. The loss of linebacker Daryl Washington for the first four games of the 2013 season, it could be argued, could spur the Cards to go with someone like Barkevious Mingo from LSU, however he is scheduled to workout for a number of teams and the Cards are not one of them. It’s a weird draft this year. so I suppose anything could happen.
