The Arizona Cardinals continued their OTA’s today at their headquarters in Tempe.  For the most part head coach Bruce Arians said he liked what he saw from the defense, but he said the offense is lagging behind where he’d like to see them at this point in the off-season.  Sound familiar?  Although he didn’t specifically name positions or names, I’m pretty sure it has a lot to do with the skilled positions.  Thank goodness it is still only May.

It is just pure speculation on my part but my guess is quarterback Carson Palmer is having difficulty catching up to Arians’ offense.  There are also a lot of new pieces on the offense, both from the skilled positions and the offensive line.  It is a little disappointing the offense is behind where Arians wants it to be right now, however it comes as no shock.

As we all know, the offense was abysmal last season.  I truly believe the personnel is better, but it sounds like the chemistry isn’t there yet.  I’m not necessarily worried, though.  Like I said, it’s May.  If this is the third week of August and I’m hearing the same comment from Arians, then it is time to worry.  All we can do is hope whatever is holding the offense back right now is something that will be worked out by the time training camp arrives at the end of July.
