Ranking the 5 best Cardinals Defenders of all time.
I did my best to have current and past players balanced here, this was very hard to rank. All stats are from NFL.com
5. Daryl Washington
Some people may think he is a tad too low on the ranking which is understandable. However Washington’s legacy is in question with his recent issues he has been facing. From a performance standpoint, Washington is an animal for the Cardinals Defense as he finished first in tackles for the Cardinals in 2012.

4. Patrick Peterson
Some fans are starting to feel relieved that this guy is getting more credit as an elite player on the national level. Patrick has had a field day his first two years in the NFL and is only looking to get better. What is keeping him at number 4 is his youth. Patrick has a bright future ahead of him, consistency through the years will move him higher up as a Cardinal Legend.

3. Darnell Dockett
Based on last years performance, it can be hard to justify why Darnell is as high as number 3. In a new system and out of his comfort zone, I don’t blame him for the quiet year. Now, slimmed down and reverting back to his old position, Darnell is looking for a huge year. No fan will ever forget his huge 3 sack performance in the Super Bowl. Dockett is clutch on the big stage and is hungry to bring AZ glory.

2. Aeneas Williams
Some fans may not know who Aeneas Williams is, but he is considered one of the greatest cornerbacks of all time. The six time Pro Bowler made a career out of shutting down opponents best receivers. Williams earned his way into the Cardinals Ring of Honor with grit and a determination to shut down receivers.

1. Adrian Wilson
This pick is bittersweet as Adrian Wilson was my favorite Cardinals player. It was difficult for me to pull up his stats on NFL.com and see the Patriots logo next to him. However, I still have him as the best defensive player to put on a Cardinals Uniform. Not only did Wilson perform to his best ability every game, but he was such a class act for the organization. His loyalty to the team and the organization spoke volumes to the younger guys on the roster.

This was not an easy task starting out. Being a fan, I have so many favorite players especially on the defensive side of the ball which made it hard to choose who went where. I also could not narrow down my options from 7, so here are my two honorable mentions:
Calias Campbell
Calias has been a great asset for the Red Sea and will only get better in my opinion. He is honestly right on the bubble and could be swapped with Washington solely because of Washington’s off field incident that may change his career.

Larry Wilson
Out of respect for the Cardinals past, you have to include Larry Wilson. This guy was a beast on the defensive side of the ball, playing safety and defensive back. This man was fearless and changed the way safeties blitz in the NFL.

Pat Tillman
Last but not certainly not least is Pat Tillman. This man may not have had the highest Cardinals numbers, but he is definitely the greatest Cardinals hero, and that is why he must be mentioned. This man played with more passion for Arizona than any other player. Period.
