Adam Schefter of ESPN has tweeted that free agent John Abraham agreed to a two year deal this afternoon with the Arizona Cardinals. After being released by the Atlanta Falcons because of injury and age concerns Abraham experienced a rough offseason with not many teams contacting him for his services because of his high asking price.

I’m sure the Cardinals got a bargain, and Abraham is someone who can produce at the outside linebacker spot in situations after having inconsistency from Sam Acho and O’Brien Schofield. Coming off a 10 sack season Abraham brings a veteran presence with a winning mentality.

Though he played defensive end in Atlanta in a 4-3 I have no doubt he can get comfortable in a 3-4 defense. The big question will be his health because when he is on the field there is no doubt he’s a sack monster. With the Cardinals unleashing Darnell Dockett and Calais Campbell the defensive line only got better with this signing.

If Abraham can stay healthy he can be a great situational player for Todd Bowles. Yet another great move by the new GM Steve Keim.
