The Arizona Cardinals completed their second day of camp at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale. By all accounts, fans had a great time. It was certainly a different feel than what Flagstaff offered. Clearly though you could tell it was just the second day of camp for the players but in the end I think Glendale will do them well.
I will miss the team being in Flagstaff. I honestly think they will return to Flagstaff someday. This team, with all the changes taking place though, is probably better off in Glendale getting to used to their home turf.
Quarterback Carson Palmer looked sharp at times and at other times definitely looked like he will need much more time with his receivers to get their timing down on certain patterns. He looked great on a couple of out patterns with tight end Rob Housler. He threw a really nice middle route to receiver Larry Fitzgerald. There were a few throws though he overthrew his receivers. He overthrew Fitz and Michael Floyd and also threw wide of Floyd on a play.
It’s tough to put a real gauge on what I saw out at the stadium on Saturday though. The team was not in pads. They have their first full pads practice this afternoon. There was an excitement in the air though. Most players looked excited to be there and appeared to have their hearts into it. It all starts with effort.
