The Arizona Cardinals were able to win five games in 2012. Going 4-0 to start last season had fans feeling optimistic despite an overtime scare with the Miami Dolphins. The Cardinals were dealt their first loss last season by the St. Louis Rams on a Thursday night showdown at the Edward Jones Dome. From then on the Cards lost every game with the exception of a mid-December win at home over the Detroit Lions.
The Cardinals strength of schedule in 2012 was ranked eighth by ESPN.com and they only managed to win five games. This year they have the Cardinals ranked seventh, however the Cardinals have a handful of games they have a strong chance to win.
These should be the easiest contests for the Cardinals this season.
3. @ Tennessee, Sunday December 15th
The Tennessee Titians finished second to last in the AFC South in 2012. Their average NFL ranking for offense and defense was 23rd, despite having one of the best running backs in the league. Titans running back Chris Johnson was slow to start the season but was among the top ten rushing leaders in the league. The Cardinals defense should be enough to hold him and the Titans offense.
2. vs. Detroit, Sunday September 15th
The Cardinals only win after their hopeful start was versus the Detroit Lions. This season the Lions are the home opener for the Dirty Birds and they should win this one again. The Arizona faithful will be in full effect to protect The Nest and see new head coach Bruce Arians’ debut.
1. @ Jacksonville, Sunday November 17th
The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the worst teams in the league last year. They had the worst record in the NFL at 2-14. This game comes a week after one of the Cardinals toughest match-ups with the Houston Texans. Assuming the Cardinals are coming off a loss, they should find a way to bounce back against the Jags.
