Without going too much into detail on this evening’s game here, this much should tell you the kind of night it was for the Arizona Cardinals in a 24-7 loss to the San Diego Chargers.  Rookie guard Jonathan Cooper, the seventh-overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, broke his leg Saturday night and is feared out for the season.

It’s just another piece of bad news in a long history of bad news for this franchise.  The only breaks they ever seem to catch are in the bones.  Cooper was expected to be a starter on a re-vamped offensive line in front of quarterback Carson Palmer.  The offensive line had played decent the first two weeks but ran into many issues in their loss to the Chargers Saturday night.

Now the Cards will be left scrambling for another plan.  It also leaves the Cards with another major draft pick injured and lost for the season in a preseason game.  Two years ago, the Cards lost second-rounder running back Ryan Williams to a season-ending injury in the first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.

Of course there will be more to come on Cooper.  For now, just pray for a quick recovery for him and also a quick recovery for the Cardinals.  We are now just two weeks away from the season opener against the St. Louis Rams.
