Arizona Cardinals receiver Michael Floyd is starting to come around. He is starting to show what we were promised a year ago when he was a first-round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft. He is stepping up like a number two receiver should. Whether he is a two or three receiver, that remains to be seen. Based on results this preseason so far, he sure has the look of a number two.
Of course receiver Andre Roberts might have something to say about all that, however if both perform well, it won’t really matter who the two and three are as they would both see the ball consistently.
Floyd caught a very nice 16-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Carson Palmer in their 24-7 loss to the San Diego Chargers on Saturday night. On Friday, Palmer said that Floyd has had a great camp. Palmer came away from his interview giving the impression that he was very impressed with Floyd so far. Let’s hope that continues.
Floyd found himself in the doghouse a bit last season for whatever reasons. Now he has a fresh start with a new coaching staff. Whatever he learned between last season and this one, so far it seems to be working. Floyd will be counted upon greatly in an offense that will like to move the ball. Expect big plays from him all season.
