Arizona Cardinals Fans are anxious to see what is in store for 2013
Predicting how the Cardinals will do in 2013.
As preseason is about to almost finish up, many fans of the NFL are wondering just how their favorite team will turn out. This year for the Cardinals, is going to be a good one.
Yes I know you can’t read to much into the preseason, last years Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens only won two of four preseason games last year and were able to win it all. However, we can deduct the this years Cardinals just flat out look better than last years Cardinals. They finally have an offense that can move the ball, sure they still have a lot of chemistry to build (mainly Palmer and Fitzgerald/Roberts) but they can at least get out of their own endzone quickly and effectively. Not to mention that they actually have a formidable offensive line that can keep Carson Palmer upright. All last year you would see a bunch of incomplete passes or sacks, leaving the offense forever stuck near their own endzone.
It is obvious that last years four game winning streak was solely due to the defensive performance. They just couldn’t keep the team on their backs for an entire seasons, and they shouldn’t have had to. This year they won’t need to. This year the defense can focus on shutting down opposing offenses instead of worrying about if they gave the Cardinals offense enough field position to score.
I know there is a kicking competition this year, and honestly I still think Feely will take the spot. His field goals won’t need to be depended on so much like they were last year, because this year the Cardinals are actually going to score touchdowns. That’s right, touchdowns.
Lastly, the division. Yes the Cardinals are in arguably the toughest division in the league. Seems like David and Goliath. However, I personally think NFL defenses are going to catch on to these running Quarterbacks. I know it is a big IF, but if defenses can make guys like Kaepernick and Wilson more one dimensional, the Cardinals have a shot to go just as far as the rest of them. Even if that doesn’t happen and both Quarterbacks have enormous years, it’s the NFL. Literally anything can happen. Players get cut, suspended, hurt, every year is a gamble.
—update—
The Chargers Preseason game really must have had a lot off bad “juju” in it. For starters our offense keeps taking steps back and our defense really couldn’t stop anybody. To make matters worse four of our offensive starters left with injury (among other players) Roberts, Mendenhall, Housler, and Cooper. Losing Cooper potentially for the season really puts the Cardinals in a hole. The other injuries seem to be ok but based on last nights performance the Cardinals have a lot to work on before they can actually compete.
