The last time the Arizona Cardinals played the Detroit Lions it was a rather lopsided affair. The Cards ended up winning 38-10 at University of Phoenix Stadium. It was the Cards only victory outside of the month of September in 2012. The Cards went 4-0 in September and then 1-11 the rest of the way. THe Lions were the only “easy” game the Cards had the rest of the season.
The last time the Cards played the Lions…..
Running back Beanie Wells was the featured running back for the Cards. He scored three touchdowns including a 31-yard scamper. He is now a free agent, taking his talents to “play for the other 30 NFL teams”.
Cards cornerback Greg Toler scored on a 102-yard interception return. He’s now a corner for the Indianapolis Colts.
Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford threw three interceptions. Cards might get one or two on Sunday but I think that was more an aberration rather than a norm.
The Lions leading rusher was Mikel Leshoure. He ran for 55 yards. Current rushing leader Reggie Bush could probably do that in his sleep.
The Cards started rookie Ryan Lindley at quarterback. He went 14-21 for 104 yards and one interception.
Jason Hanson was still kicking for the Lions. Now, It’s David Akers.
Times have changed and remember this game was just last December. You had two teams just trying to finish out a miserable season. Now with the game at the beginning of the season, both have a lot to play for. Expect this game to be very close.
