The last time the Arizona Cardinals and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers met was in October 2010.  Tampa quarterback Josh Freeman, who has been benched for this Sunday’s game, led the Bucs to a 38-35 victory at University of Phoenix Stadium.  The last time the Cards traveled to Tampa was in November 2007 when Kurt Warner was the Cards quarterback.  They lost that game as well 17-10.

The last Cards victory over the Bucs was 12-7 back at the end of the 2005 season.   That game was at Sun Devil Stadium.  The last time the Cards won in Tampa Bay?  You have to go all the way back to 1988, when they were known as the Phoenix Cardinals and Neil Lomax was behind center for the Cards.  That’s a long time ago in my book.

Granted, they don’t play each other a lot, but 25 years between road victories in Tampa is a long drought, even if is only the span of four games.  This could be the best chance the Cards have at knocking off the Bucs in Tampa.  The defense is pretty good for the Bucs, however we we’ve come to find out, they are in turmoil at the quarterback position, something the Cards know only too well.

I have a feeling the Cards will prevail this Sunday history or no history.  The Bucs are in a period of transition with Mike Glennon at quarterback.  He’ll be a good one someday I believe.  Just not this Sunday.
