I’m not one to sit here and beg the NFL to suspend Arizona Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett for purposely stepping on the hand of St. Louis Rams guard Chris Williams while Williams was down on the ground on Sunday.  However I believe he should get suspended.  I can not sit here and condone the actions of Dockett, even though I am a huge fan of his and appreciate the efforts he has put in this season.

What Dockett did was uncalled for.  Certainly the Cards need him here down the stretch.  Any time missed does damage to the Cards playoff chances.  It will be interesting to see how the NFL handles this one.  Everyone saw it.  It made national news, so you can guarantee it caught the eye of the NFL.  At the very least he will get fined but I’m ok with a one-game suspension as well from the standpoint he should be held accountable.  Of course I’m not ok with him missing anytime for such a selfish act.

I understand how the game works.  I realize that while he did do it on purpose, it was also in the heat of the moment.  Video replays clearly show though he did think about his actions before he performed the intentional act.

I back whatever decision is made and so should every other Cards fan.  It is not what the Cards are about.  I’m sure Dockett would take it back if he could but what’s done is done.  We shall see in the next couple of days what discipline Dockett will face.
