It was ugly, it wasn’t pretty, the offense was bad…name it anything you want today but the end result of a 17-10 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Seattle is all the Arizona Cardinals care about.  Today it was mostly about the defense on both sides of the ball.

Cards quarterback Carson Palmer threw four interceptions but in the end held it together for a great late fourth quarter drive that put them up 15-10 after getting down 10-9 with a little more than seven minutes left in the game.  A two-point conversion by running back Rashard Mendenhall gave them the 17-10 lead and eventual win.

Both defenses kept their teams in the game though.  The Cards came up with seven three and outs.  The Hawks only converted 2-13 third downs on Sunday afternoon.  Meanwhile the Cards kept shooting themselves in the foot and when they weren’t doing that, the Hawks defense was doing a great job of holding the Cards in check and keeping them off the scoreboard.  It was only 3-3 at halftime.

It is the first loss in 14 games at home for the Hawks and the victory leaves the Cards final road record at 4-4 for the season.  Now they head home to face the San Francisco 49’ers on Sunday.  The Niners play tomorrow night on Monday Night Football at home against the Atlanta Falcons.  Win or lose for the Niners, the Cards are still in the playoff hunt, however they will need to beat the Niners next Sunday for any shot to get in and even then it may not be enough.  For tonight though, let’s enjoy this victory!
