The Arizona Cardinals reach week 17 with two things in mind.  First, beat the San Francisco 49ers.  Secondly, hope to also sneak into the playoffs with a Tampa Bay Buccaneers win over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon.  Playoffs or no playoffs though, the Cards have a chance to finish 11-5 for the first time since moving to Arizona 25 years ago.

The last time these two teams played in October, the Cards had a 22-20 lead before the Niners went on a nine minute drive to wear down the Cards defense.  It was a game the Niners eventually won 32-20.  This time, both teams are playing for something.  The Cards are playing just to get into the playoffs and the Niners are hoping for a win and a Seattle Seahawks loss to win the NFC West and get first-round bye.  The Niners clinched a playoff spot last week with a 34-24 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

Last week the Cards defeated the Seahawks in Seattle 17-10 off a stellar defensive effort and some timely fourth-quarter offense.  Cards quarterback Carson Palmer threw a season-high four interceptions but saved his best performance for last with a 31-yard touchdown pass to Michael Floyd in that fourth quarter.
