The Arizona Cardinals in free agency this off season will be the most vital part to improving upon a surprising 2013 season. The trend in the NFL when a team is successful one year the transition to the next year is very hard to do, and it starts with free agency moves in the off season.
Draft picks will be drafted but the number of first year impact players is very few in this league, so it will have to be free agency that gets the Cardinals to the next level in the game.
According to our good folks at Arizona Sports Karlos Dansby and Cardinal management are in on going talks for bringing him back, GM Steve Keim was quoted as saying “Sometimes the players and their agents want to play the market and see where the numbers go,” Keim also said. “At the same time we have aggressively pursued some of our own free agents and we have deals on the table that we feel pretty good about.” This is a critical move to get done in everyone’s mind in the Cardinals organization even the fans.
But what would happen should the Cardinals not sign Karlos Dansby, will they have the same chemistry on the field and in the locker room; will the young guys develop any faster? These and many question will be answered soon.
One question mark that remains key to resigning Dansby is the availability of the teams other starting line backer Daryl Washington.
It is still not clear when his case for domestic violence will be completed and will the results of that case put the Cardinals back in the same boat as the start of last year, should the commissioner suspend Washington for a few games to start the season.
This puts more pressure on Keim and management to get a deal done for Dansby because without he and Washington out there to start who will pick up the production in that position.
Second year linebacker Kevin Minter will return after having a very limited 2013 season due to injury and playing time he only recorded 4 total combined tackles all season and it would really be like his rookie season all over again next year and we cant have inexperience in that position
Going to be very interesting to see how this all plays out, for Cardinal fans sake we would love to see the same Todd Bowels defense with a few additions but not subtraction of the most impact players of the 2013 season.
