One of the only holdovers from Ken Whisenhunt’s staff when he was head coach of the Arizona Cardinals was strength and conditioning coach John Lott. As of Friday, he is no longer an Arizona Cardinals assistant as head coach Bruce Arians has decided not to retain him.
To me it isn’t so much that he was let go was more about the timing. I think Arians wants to have his own guy in there and I can understand that. It is just interesting it comes right after the NFL Scouting Combine, an event that Lott has been tied to for sometime.
The Cards did announce that assistant strength and conditioning coach Pete Alosi will remain with the team. It will be interesting to see which direction Arians goes with his new guy. According to arizonasports.com, it is thought that now Lott will join Whisenhunt on his staff with the Tennessee Titans. I say good luck to him and wish him well. Hopefully Arians acts quickly to move someone else in with free agency and then the rest of the offseason calendar quickly approaching. My guess is he probably already has someone in mind based on this timing. Stay tuned for more news on this.
