Antonio Cromartie spent the past couple of days in Arizona meeting with the Arizona Cardinals. The free agent cornerback met with the Cards front office on Thursday and Friday. No reports on Saturday as to what Cromartie will do one way or the other.
There is no question he would look nice in the Cards defensive backfield however at what price? Remember, the Cards still want to shore up cornerback Patrick Peterson as well. Cromartie had three interceptions in 2013. Playing opposite Peterson could mean some really good defensive afternoons for the Cards.
The fact though there was no news on Saturday leads me to believe no contract was offered and Cromartie will continue his free agent visits. Reports say this could have been nothing more than a get to know you meeting and see where each side is at. Personally, I just can’t see him joining the Cards at the price he would and could still command.
My feeling is Cromartie actually ends up back with the New York Jets. It is just a feeling though. Whatever happens though, I’m glad the Cards are at least not standing still and exploring all options. That to me speaks volumes. No harm in trying to get better. Cromartie would make them better no doubt.
