Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas has at least one team possibly interested in his services. That would be your Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Bruce Arians was in Virginia on Tuesday to workout the projected second-round draft pick. This was the first I had heard the Cards were even slightly interested in the mobile quarterback.
Thomas is projected to be a high second-round NFL Draft pick. The Cards first pick in the second-round is with the 52nd pick. It’ll be interesting to see if Thomas is still there when it comes time to pick. What’s even interesting more, would the Cards want to spend their second-round pick on a quarterback? They most likely won’t be spending a first-round pick on one. They’ve been projected to take one in the third or later rounds depending on who you talk to.
Thomas had 16 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 2013. He threw for 2,909 yards. There are a number of quarterbacks I’d probably think about over Thomas, such as a Zach Mettenberger or Aaron Murray. However that being said, Arians knows what will fit best with his system, so of course if he thinks Thomas fits his system, I’ll back the choice 100 percent. With Carson Palmer in the fold for at least another year or two, the Cards have the luxury of being selective with who they take at quarterback. With Thomas though, it may be moot by the time the Cards are on the clock.
