In the Fifth round with the 160th overall pick the Arizona Cardinals select Ed Stinson out of Alabama.
Stinson was part of last years second-team All-SEC selection completing 12 starts and recording 5.5 sacks in his senior year, and of course was part of two national championship teams in his collagen career.
Stinson is 6’4 290 pounds of pure muscle and is a long-framed prototype five-technique capable of kicking inside and manning the nose position. He is very strong at the point of attack and has an outstanding motor that makes him very competitive.
It may take that drive to get him on the field but the jobs in the NFL are won in practice and this kids drive and determination may get him a chance to show his talent.
The Cardinals continue to go with length in almost every defensive position in the draft and Stinson has very long arms to hold up and jolt blockers on contact.
The Cardinals just added some depth at the position and OTA’s and training camp will be very competitive along the d-line.
