Anthony Steen is an undrafted free agent out of Alabama. Steen is 6`2, 310 and was a three year starter at offensive guard and named All-SEC. With him going undrafted is very shocking to me
Steen is quick sliding laterally, as well as coming off the line to get to the second-level. He has that thick, compact fame that is ideal to winning leverage battles. Also has the awareness to keep his head on a swivel to pick up multiple rushers.
Has the power to drive defenders to the ground and sustains blocks til the whistle. Lacks ideal arm length, but maximizes his extension without over-extending. Technically and fundamentally solid in pass protection.
While Steen is great against the bull rush, he gets beat by the swim and swat, struggling once lateral. He suffered a torn labrum at the end of the 2013 season. He is still young enough to come back from it and I`m guessing that is why he was`nt drafted.
Even if Steen isn`t able to make the team as a guard, he might be able do it as a center. He has all the intangibles to become a starter one day. I`m happy that Steve Keim hurried up to pick up this undrafted free agent.
