The next pick in the 2014 NFL draft for the Arizona Cardinals to be graded is fifth round selection Ed Stinson out of Alabama.
Stinson was part of the number one defense in college football for all of his years at Alabama.
Watching him on video we see he is a prototypical 3-4 DE who is extremely powerful , excellent at shedding blocks and is an absolute beast against the run.
He played with an injury all last year and put up some good numbers, recording 30 tackles (20) of those were solo tackles, eight for a loss and three for sacks.
Stinson’s stock in the draft may have declined a bit because of the injury last season, he has average foot speed but that which he lacks in speed he makes up in power and a non-stop motor.
Cardinals get a really good piece to groom in their defense, Stinson will have a few veterans in front of him and will learn how to grow as a professional.
He grades out with a C+ because the Cardinals are getting value from a player that was projected to go in the third or fourth round, but went later because of the defensive depth in the draft.
