Arizona Cardinals: Things to Watch

The Cardinals first pre-season game is on Aug 9th and here are some things to watch closely.

The Cardinals signed Max Starks earlier this week at right tackle which tells me that Bruce Arians is`nt sold on Bobby Massie. I`ll be watching Massie`s play, nothing puts a fire under someone`s butt like the fear of being cut. This signing could be because Arians thinks Massie has more to give, it could also be because Massie is on his way out the door.

At right guard, there are three players to watch. Last years starter Paul Fanaika, four-year starter Ted Larson, and rookie Anthony Steen who is an All-SEC RG. This probably will be the best match up of camp period. I can`t wait to watch this fight.

Arians stated earlier this week that Jonathan Cooper is`nt up to par so far in camp. Earl Watford is looking to prove himself this year and is giving Coop a run for his money. This match up could become as good as the RG position.

Who will become Deone Bucannon`s back up? Will it be Orhian Johnson, Curtis Taylor, or Anthony Walters? I believe someone between Massie and Stark could be cut sometime within this month. If that cut happens, I believe a great fit for this secondary is a player like Ed Reed. I have a feeling something is going to happen. It could just be me wishing as well.

Others players to watch are outside linebacker Alex Okafor. Okafor`s got the talent and drive to become a starter. Glad to have him back on the field. Inside linebackers Keenan Clayton, Jonathan Brown, and Glenn Carson.Clayton is someone I will be watching closely to see how well he develops. He maybe a project, but I believe he can make an impact. Both rookies Brown and Carson could also make an impact on the field as well. These three could very well make a name for themselves.
