The Arizona Cardinals have been pretty fortunate to avoid the huge injury bug through the first half of the preseason so far.  Their biggest loss has been the retirement of tight end Jake Ballard due to a previous injury he couldn’t overcome.  However, defensive tackle Darnell Dockett went down this afternoon with an apparent leg injury and was carted off the field.

It is being reported that Dockett was putting no pressure on the leg as he was helped to the cart.  Dockett, heading into his 11th season in the NFL, has only missed four games in his previous 10 years.

It would be unfortunate if Dockett missed any regular season time.  It isn’t necessary for him to get reps in the preseason for nothing other than physical conditioning.  His backup is Frostee Rucker.  People have been high on Rucker this preseason so far.  Justin Renfrow, who is currently listed fourth on the dept chart at defensive tackle, played a solid game this past weekend in Minnesota, so there is a little depth but you never want to lose a player like Dockett.  Let’s hope for the best.
