The Arizona Cardinals made their wave of cuts on Monday morning to get to the 75-man limit teams had until Tuesday at 1pm Arizona time to get to. In all, the Cards released 13 players on Monday.
Cuts:
Jay Feely – K
Ryan Lindley – QB
Max Starks – T
JoJo Dickson – LB
Tom Draheim – C
Brandon Sermons – CB
Damien Thigpen – RB
Kevin Ozier – WR
Reggie Dunn – WR
Justin Renfrow – DT
Orhian Johnson – S
Derrell Johnson – LB
Keenan Clayton – LB
Not a ton of surprises here, although I stated last night I thought the Cards might wait until Friday to cut Feely and Lindley, after the last preseason game Thursday night against the San Diego Chargers. Their releases though were not a surprise based on their preseason performances. Ozier, a local product from Arizona State was a guy I thought would make it further earlier in camp but he did not play well and dropped the last pass of the game last night, causing a turnover. Starks never materialized on the line after being signed a couple of weeks ago.
The next cut date is by Saturday at 1pm Arizona time. I suspect we will see the next cuts to 53 though sometime Friday.
