Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Ryan Lindley, released last week after spending his first two seasons in the NFL with the team, was signed on Sunday by the San Diego Chargers to their practice squad.
Lindley, who failed to impress enough in Arizona to supplant rookie Logan Thomas, will now get another shot to prove he is NFL-worthy. He did not appear in a regular season game in 2013 and made one appearance in the preseason with the Cards. The writing was on the wall for Lindley though when the Cards drafted Thomas back in May.
In 2012 Lindley appeared in six games, going 89-171 for 752 yards. He did not throw any touchdowns and threw seven interceptions. Now he gets to go back to San Diego, where he played at San Diego State. Maybe some familiar surroundings will give him better success. I wish him nothing but the best. He’s a good guy who deserves another shot.
