Former Arizona Cardinals running back Ryan Williams, released yesterday by the Dallas Cowboys in the cut down to the 53-man roster, was re-signed today to their practice squad today per Todd Archer, ESPN NFL Nation reporter. Williams originally signed with the Cowboys in May after being released by the Cards.
Williams, as we all know fell quickly out of favor with current Cards coach Bruce Arians. Williams never had the work ethic he felt to be a part of this team after coming back from two season-ending injuries his first two seasons in the NFL. The Cards drafted him in 2011.
Williams had 25 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown in the preseason for the Cowboys. Last season, Williams made the team after a strong ending to the preseason but he never saw the field in 2013 for the Cards, remaining inactive all-season. Williams became part of a crowded field vying for backup running back jobs in Dallas and ended up getting cut on Saturday. Hopefully he can show enough to find his way back onto an active roster, if not for the Cowboys, for another team.
