Arizona Cardinals backup quarterback Drew Stanton will get the start on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers per Craig Morton from Fox Sports Arizona. This is not surprising news given regular starter Carson Palmer has not practiced this week.
Palmer has been trying everything under the sun to stimulate his sleeping nerve in his shoulder. He’s tried dry needling. He’s tried electro-shock. Nothing has changed. We had been warned that Palmer could be out one week or one month. Hopefully this gives him the rest needed with the bye-week next week before going to Denver on October 5th.
Stanton is not limited in what plays are run for him and hopefully with a game already under his belt, he may be able to move the ball downfield into scoring position with more regularity. Stanton went 14-29 for 167 yards and no touchdowns against the New York Giants. He also though did not throw any interceptions.
