The Arizona Cardinals started the game off fairly nicely. They only came away with a 51-yard field goal by rookie Chandler Catanzaro but the Cards had their chances to keep moving the ball.
Quarterback Drew Stanton, starting for Carson Palmer, threw a nice 36-yard pass to receiver Michael Floyd. Later on the drive running back Andre Ellington was unable to haul in a five-yard pass that would have continued the first drive for the Cards.
The Niners on their first drive went right down the field and scored a touchdown. They had the Niners on the ropes on a couple of third downs but on a third and one on the first drive, quarterback Colin Kaepernick found tight end Derek Carrier in the middle of the field all by himself for 23 yards and a first down. Then several plays later he found receiver Michael Crabtree in the end zone for the score.
The Cards got the ball again and converted a fourth and one on their own end of the field. The currently still have the ball and are driving. It will be important to get points out of this.
