Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians made it official on Friday.  The Cards are starting Drew Stanton at quarterback on Sunday against the Denver Broncos.  Carson Palmer, who saw a specialist a couple of days ago in Los Angeles, did not practice again on Friday.

This really came as no surprise but I suppose many held out hope he would play.  With Stanton playing well in his first two starts, especially against the San Francisco 49ers, he does provide a level of comfort and not panic like it might have in the past.  Stanton has two touchdown passes and no interceptions against the Niners and the New York Giants.

Now, the Denver Broncos on the road is a completely different beast, so the defense will be a much more important factor coming up on Sunday.  The margin for error will be smaller.  No doubt this is Stanton’s biggest test.  Palmer could be ready next week or next month.  Expect this to be a daily topic until he returns.  That’s just how little we all know how Palmer’s shoulder will react.
