The Arizona Cardinals lost more than a football game on Sunday to the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Lost within the 41-20 loss to the Broncos was the Cards lost several players to injury, including a sprained MCL to defensive end Calais Campbell.
Campbell was injured on a chop block. Replay’s seem to indicate it was an intent to injure. It looked purposeful. Cards head coach Bruce Arians was not happy with the play. “It is the dirtiest play I’ve ever seen in 37 years”, Arians said.
I have to say I agree with Arians. It looked bad and now the report is a sprained MCL and he will have to have an MRI to determine any further damage. Right now the best guess is he misses 3-4 weeks. That is a huge loss on the defensive line.
The Cards also lost quarterback Drew Stanton to a possible concussion in the third quarter. Rookie Logan Thomas came in and threw a touchdown pass but did little else. Stanton seemed to be alright according to Arians but he said he will still have to go through the normal protocol before he can be cleared to return.
Then towards the end of the game, the Cards lost cornerback Patrick Peterson to a knee injury but Arians said he should be alright. That is definitely great news to hear. One more player was injured and that was tight end Troy Niklas. There is no further word on his injury at this time.
