Well the Arizona Cardinals didn’t wait until Wednesday practice to bring in another quarterback.  They brought former Pittsburgh Steelers and University of Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon and signed him to the practice squad on Tuesday.

Dixon, who last played in the regular season in 2011 with the Steelers, has bounced around a bit since.  He spent a short time with the Baltimore Ravens and also the Philadelphia Eagles in the preseason.  Dixon is 35-59 for 402 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in regular season play.

There has been no further news on the status of Cards quarterbacks Carson Palmer or Drew Stanton but this was the prudent move.  They needed to bring in a body they can elevate to the active roster this weekend in case Palmer, Stanton or neither of them can go.  Dixon also is familiar with head coach Bruce Arians offensive system.  Arians on Monday indicated if they did bring in a quarterback it would have to be someone who knows the system.  So, although Dixon hasn’t taken a snap in awhile, he should have some familiarity with the plays.
