The Arizona Cardinals are drawing more viewers this season than what they drew in 2013
The Arizona Cardinals are what more people want to watch on Sunday afternoons in the Phoenix television market. According to Cards vice-president for media relations Mark Dalton, viewership ratings are up 30 percent this year, which is tops in the NFL.

It should come as no surprise though. With a 5-1 record to start the season plus some compelling matchups, there is not much shock to the increased viewership but that it is 30 percent is quite telling.

The Cards were on Monday Night Football against the San Diego Chargers, which is part of this number. Naturally a national game like that will get viewers anyway. Then they faced the New York Giants. There are a lot of former New Yorkers in this market.
The San Francisco 49ers is a huge division matchup and since they defeated them in week three, that certainly is going to draw even more viewers. They had an away game after that at the Denver Broncos, another team with a huge local following. Then there was this past weekend with the game against the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders might have one of the bigger fan bases in the Phoenix area.
Ultimately though winning is what attracts more viewers. Everyone loves a winner and the potential of what the Cards could possibly do this season, especially with the Super Bowl in their own stadium this year, is going to be intriguing to people, including the less-than-casual football fan.
