Mathieu said he was still not 100 percent if you can believe that. However the in the last two weeks Mathieu has looked more like the old Honey Badger. He defensed a big pass in the end zone in the fourth quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles last week. Yesterday he picked up his first interception of the season.
Mathieu also had five tackles on Sunday against the Cowboys. He had four tackles against the Eagles. He’s getting more involved each week with the defense. Despite him looking but not being 100 percent he is amazing. He is still only 11 months removed from a torn ACL in the win over the St. Louis Rams last December.
With 20 tackles on the season and getting the first interception under his belt and not being at 100 percent yet, the sky is the limit for the second-year safety from LSU. He clearly is enjoying the game. He says he loves playing for coach Bruce Arians. He has been a much better professional than many thought he would be. You can’t help but be excited for Mathieu and the rest of the Cardinals for that matter.
Next week the Mathieu and the Cardinals play the Rams at home, the game in which Mathieu injured himself last season. Its another golden opportunity for him to show he is back.
