The Arizona Cardinals lost quarterback Carson Palmer but won another game on Sunday to stay in the top spot this week

For the first time since 1948 the Arizona Cardinals are 8-1.  In the process they lost quarterback Carson Palmer for the season with a torn ACL.  Drew Stanton is now charged with running the team and trying to get the Cardinals to the playoffs.

You’ll see some people who will drop the Cardinals in their Power Rankings for the sole reason of losing Palmer.  We don’t deal in hypotheticals around here.  A lot of experts and outlets are dropping the Cards as a top team this week because of what might happen with the Cardinals thanks to the loss of Palmer.

Fox Sports dropped the Cardinals from 2 to 6 because of the loss of Palmer.  Forget the fact nothing else changed with the team and they won their game 31-14 on Sunday and are 8-1.  Makes sense, right?  Different outlets use different criteria for their Power Rankings but they shouldn’t be anything about what might happen.  Never.
