Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington Officially Out

Arizona Cardinals running back Andre Ellington will miss Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs

Arizona Cardinals running back Andre Ellington is officially out for Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Glendale.  Ellington suffered a sever hip pointer against the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday.

The announcement really comes as little surprise since the announcement on Tuesday that Ellington’s injury was more serious than initially thought Sunday and Monday.  The hope now is that he can return soon.  The Cardinals are on the road two of the last three weeks of the season, starting on Thursday night in St. Louis.

I would probably expect Ellington to miss that game in St. Louis as well.  Best guess is he returns in two weeks against the Seattle Seahawks.  This will leave the load of carries to be left to Stepfan Taylor, who will start in his place, and Marion Grice.  We could also see Michael Bush as well.

Ellington was already limited in practice all season due to a toe injury.  This injury has left many wondering about the durability of Ellington, something that came into question early in 2013 as well.

Ellington has 1065 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns so far this season.  He will be missed even though the Cards running game was suffering with him but he’s the best option still.  Now we leave it up to Taylor, Grice, and possibly Bush to get things rolling.  Cards will need to establish some kind of running game against a tough Chiefs defense in order to help the offense move more efficiently.
