Adrian Wilson was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2001

According to profootballtalk.com, former Arizona Cardinals safety Adrian Wilson is going to call it a career on Monday.  The Arizona Cardinals have called a press conference with Wilson on Monday.

Wilson spent 12 years in Arizona with the Cardinals, drafted out of North Carolina State.  After the 2012 season, he went and spent the season with the New England Patriots in 2013 but on Injured Reserve.  He attempted to get on with the Chicago Bears last season but was cut in training camp.

Wilson is a five-time Pro-Bowler.  He holds the record for most sacks by a defensive back in a single season with eight.  He accomplished that feat in 2005.  He also holds a few Cardinals records as well.  He is tied for the second-longest interception touchdown return in franchise history at 99 yards.  He hold the most career forced fumbles with 15.

Wilson was a hard hitter.  That was the style he was known for.  He wasn’t out to injure anyone.  He was not a head hunter.  He was someone who played with heart and gave it his all.  Even in his last season in Arizona when it appeared he had lost a step or two, he was still playing hard and no one could have taken that away from him.  He tried to continue his career after Arizona moved on after the 2012 season.

Injury set him down in 2013 and then never got out of training camp in 2014.  As recently as January he was still contemplating playing in 2015.  Now he has decided it is time to hang it up and will do so with the team that drafted him and spent most of his career with.
