The highlight of camp as always is Fan Fest. This year Fan Fest takes place on Saturday August 8th. Overall the Cardinals will have a total of 19 practices at University of Phoenix Stadium. Admission to the practices are free as is parking at the stadium.
This year will also again include a Kids Autograph Experience and a Kids Interactive Zone. Although camp does not end until Friday August 28th, both of those activities will end August 14th since most Valley kids will be back in school by then, according to azcardinals.com.
The Cardinals open the preseason against the Kansas City Chiefs at home on Saturday August 15th. They also host the San Diego Chargers the following Saturday on August 22nd. The Cardinals third preseason game will be on the road on Sunday Night Football against the Oakland Raiders on August 30th. The final preseason game will take place against the Denver Broncos in Denver on Thursday September 3rd. The regular season will open a week later on Thursday September 10th.
Quarterback Carson Palmer will be healthy and ready to go. He has been cleared for 100 percent participation. There are currently no other significant injuries to report at this point which is a great thing heading into preseason.
If training camp seems later this year it is because it is. The first practice was on July 25th last year. The NFL, which traditionally kicks off the week after Labor Day, so as to give NCAA Football that weekend for their kickoff activities, will start Thursday September 10th with the bulk of week one on Sunday September 13th. The Cardinals will open against the New Orleans Saints on that day. Labor day this year isn’t until September 7th. It was on September 1st in 2014.
