Arizona Cardinals From A To Z: Chris Clemons

Player profile of S Chris Clemons as Arizona Cardinals training camp starts July 31st

As we prepare for Arizona Cardinals training camp reporting date of July 31st, it is time for our annual look at the roster player by player.  I look at what they’ve done, where they are now and how I project each player’s status at the end of camp.

We go from A to Z and continue with S Chris Clemons.  Clemons heads into his second season with the Cardinals after spending his previous five seasons with the Miami Dolphins.

2014 season: Clemons ended up playing in just one game in 2014 after he was signed in December.  He spent 2014 training camp with the Houston Texans.  He was cut at the end of August before the end of camp and was out of work until the Cardinals came calling.

2015 season projection: Clemons sits behind Tyrann Mathieu and Rashad Johnson on the depth chart.  It will be difficult for him to be on the final 53-man roster if Johnson does nothing to earn being demoted or stays healthy.

Clemons no doubt has done some good things in his career.  If you look at his 2012 and 2013 numbers, they were decent with the Dolphins.  In 2012 Clemons had a career high in tackles with 98.  He also had two interceptions in 2012.  In 2013 he was almost as productive.  He had 93 tackles with one interception.  In his five Dolphins seasons he has 278 tackles, 17 passes defensed, and four interceptions.  He’s no push over but he just may not be good enough to play for the Cardinals in 2015.
